Support System
Do you know what is harder than deciding you want to make a change and start living a healthier lifestyle? I believe doing it alone is much more challenging. I hear it time and time again. Someone decides to make a lifestyle change, and they receive backlash from close family and friends. In my eyes, this is unacceptable behavior. When people love you, I can only hope they want what is best for you.
I have found that when backlash takes place, it is only a reflection of how people feel about themselves. If this pertains to you, know you are not alone. It's ok to have that uncomfortable conversation with a significant other, family member, or friend. Let them know how vital their support means to you. Let them know that it doesn't have to affect their lives necessarily. I have witnessed relationships fall apart because of this.
When you decide to make your health a priority, relationships change. It's essential to find support somewhere. I suggest finding a community of like-minded people. Hire a personal trainer or Health Coach to hold your hand through the process, and to help keep you accountable.
My husband always says, "A happy wife is a happy life." If we didn't share some of the same core values, it would be incredibly tough on me and our relationship. If I'm struggling, I know that I can ask Jim for help and vice versus. Deciding to improve your life is a wonderful thing. If anyone tells you differently, I would re-evaluate that relationship. If you know anyone who needs to hear this message, please share it!
