Inspire Through Action

"Kindness is the language in which the deaf can hear, and the blind can see.'' -Mark Twain

I didn't grow up, surrounded by a lot of children. My family is small; my sister is nine years older, and my cousins are about my age. When I was in my late twenties, a lot of my close friends started having babies. Being around children was foreign to me. I didn't know where to start with them or how to relate.

Although I've trained hundreds of women, when my sister had my niece and nephew, I felt utterly overwhelmed. Last year my sister was diagnosed with Stage Two breast cancer, my husband and I immediately made a children's room in our house. I wanted my sister to know that I could step in and be there for them 100 percent.

At first, I felt exhausted and lost. Children don't come with a manual. But over time, my heart grew founder. I realized that it was incredibly important for me to be their role model and to lead by example. As I sit here and shed a few tears, I never thought I would say this, but I love them as if they were my own. It was a dark time in all of our lives, but I made sure to show them the light. I wanted to inspire them to be their best selves, even though obstacles.

The thing is, I never change who I am when they are around. I take them to the gym with me; I teach them how to grocery shop and pick out fresh produce! We open doors for people, put our carts away, and say kind things. I stress how important it is to be grateful and to put in the work. Children today will rule this world someday. It is up to us to teach them how to be good humans, how to cook, how to take care of their health, how to take care of animals and the environment. Children are visual creatures; they are like sponges. They are always watching our every move.

Unknowingly, Aubrey, and Leo inspired me. My passion for helping others is what keeps me up at night. It's what drives me every single day to not give up. On New Year's Eve, I was at a wedding, and a woman came up to me. She told me she read my latest blog post about stress management and was going to start implementing some of my tips right away. All it takes is one person, then that person is going to tell another person. These are the moments that I live for. I am determined to make the world a happier and healthier place one person at a time.

2020 I am coming for you, better hold on tight, this is going to be a bumpy ride!
