EZ Guide: Shop Once Every 14 Days
If you are trying to minimize your time spent grocery shopping, now would be the time to shop less. If you prefer not to leave your house, Instacart is totally on your side. For those of you who shop one-two times a week, it can be challenging to figure out what to purchase that will last for two weeks. The positive thing is, you can get a lot more stuff done by not spending hours at the store. When I do grocery store tours here in St. Louis, I teach people how to get in and out in under 20-minutes with time to spare.
Picking out your food items is the easy part. The hard part is figuring out what the hell you're going to cook without getting bored. Food waste is a real issue in the United States. Shopping at a store like Costco and Sam's is a great place to find bulk items. I would suggest starting with purchasing frozen organic fruits and vegetables. Both can require a very long travel time before it hits our grocery stores, especially if it is coming from outside of the United States. Because of this, they are generally picked before they are even ripe to ensure they don't rot before hitting the stands.
Frozen fruits and veggies are usually picked at their ripest and then flash frozen. Keep in mind; the refrigerator, over time, pulls nutrients out of your food while freezing preserves all of the nutrients. Knowing this will also help you to eliminate food waste as well. Below are some other staple items to look for(preferably in bulk), they will keep and be cost-effective:
.) Organic boneless/skinless check thighs or on-the-bone. These store great frozen if you buy them in bulk. If you have them in an air-fryer, throw them in!
.) Chicken tenderloins. These cook faster, therefore they have fewer time restraints compared to breasts.
.) Grassfed beef. Make them into meatballs or patties and freeze until you're ready to cook them.
.) Don Lee Farms grilled chicken burgers.
.) Spaghetti squash. Find yourself a big squash; they keep well and once cooked, you can freeze.
.) Jasmine, brown, or wild rice.
.) Rao's spaghetti squash.
.) Simple Mills Almond Flour Crackers.
.) Grain-free granola (Paleo bites are my favorite!)
.) Hippeas organic chickpea puffs.
.) Olive oil, Avocado oil, Ghee, Kerrygold butter, coconut oil.
.) Bitchin' Sauce or Hummus
.) Full fat grass-fed yogurt, Forager cashew yogurt, or Kite Hill yogurt.
.) Wholly Guacamole in serving size cups.
.) Coconut Amino's (soy sauce replacement).
.) Amylu chicken burgers or breakfast sausages.
.) Nuts, nut butter, and seeds.
.) Lemons and limes for cooking flavor.
.) Oatmeal
.) Dave's Killer Bread or GF Sprouted Bread. You can keep both frozen and toast when ready. If you find this valuable, please share it with a friend!
