Create a Morning Routine

Having a morning routine is just as important as having a night time routine. Have you ever overslept, forgot your lunch and then got stuck in traffic? When your morning starts with an overload of stress and chaos, the rest of the day seems to follow. Below are some helpful tips to start your morning off right.
-
1. It’s best to wake up naturally on your own at the same time every day but if you have to set an alarm for yourself, be sure to adjust your sound to something soothing or refreshing. A blaring alarm creates that fight or flight mood. That’s not a great start for you or your cortisol levels.
-
2. Stay off your phone 45-60 minutes upon waking.
-
3. Wake up and think of 4-5 things you’re grateful for.
-
4. Set 1-3 minutes aside to breathe and meditate. My favorite app for this is called Headspace, and it’s FREE.
-
5. Get up and get moving! Take your dogs for a 5-minute walk or stretch. Do something active for 5 minutes.
-
6. Drink plenty of water, if you have a freshly squeezed lemon even better. Water gets your digestive system on track, purifies your body, hydrates you and is excellent for detoxification.
-
Remember it’s about progress, not perfection. Incorporating one or two of these thing will make a huge difference.
