The Ways to Minimize Stress Levels
During times of stress, your adrenal glands respond by releasing two hormones: cortisol and adrenaline. These hormones are part of your "fight or flight" response. Stress and anxiety can stem from lack of sleep, environmental toxins, work-life, family, etc.
1.) Move your body.
That's right, get outside for at least twenty minutes a day, soak up the sun, and be one with nature. Studies show that just moving your body for twenty minutes daily can lower your cortisol levels by 100%. Our bodies are not meant to sit and be sedentary; they're meant to be up and moving. So what's the best exercise regimen to do? Strength training creates the most adaptations. But honestly, choose something that you will CONSISTENTLY do! Whether lifting weights, hiking, walking, swimming, or yoga.
2.) Get Quality Sleep.
To survive, your body needs sleep, just like it needs air, food, and water. A review of studies in 2010 found that sleeping too little increases the risk of early death. In addition, lack of sleep will cause stress levels to rise, which will, in return, create cravings, cause irritability, and is associated with a whole host of health issues, including:
Headaches, muscle pain, weight gain, dizziness, nausea, weakened immunity, high blood pressure, memory loss, and low libido.
Create a nighttime routine that guarantees you sleep for 7-9 hours. Suggestions:
-Set your bedroom up for comfort and relaxation.
-Turn off all electronics one hour before bed.
-Read, meditate, or journal.
-Treat yourself to some self-care.
-Minimize eating right before bed so your body can be in "rest and digest" mode.
3. Have orgasms.
It might be time to say, "an orgasm a day keeps the doctor away." Too much? Hear me out; besides the obvious "feel-good" benefits, past research has shown that one of the main advantages of orgasm is that it boosts your immune system. According to a study in the Journal of Psychosomatic Research, "People who regularly have sex are happier." Other possible health benefits:
-Increases brain power
-Longer lifespan
-Help lower pain levels
-Helps you sleep better
-Sex is cardio...never forget that
