All Eggs Are Not Created Equal
When it comes to buying eggs, it can be so confusing with all of the different marketing out there. I am not one to tell you what to do, but I do like to provide you with the information, and you can decide what works best for you.

From a health perspective, conventionally raised eggs are bread through chickens in dark housing facilities. These chickens never see the day of light and are living in horrible conditions. Due to this, their eggs are lacking a ton of micronutrients. They’re low in vitamin D since the chickens never get sunlight. These eggs are high in Omega-6’s (you want these in moderation because they can cause inflammation) and very low in Omega-3’s (give me all of these, they help fight inflammation).

Pastured eggs are the best option to choose. These chickens go in and out of their coop as they please, because of this, they have 100x more micronutrients than conventionally raised eggs. Chickens like to eat insects and bugs so being fed a strictly vegetarian diet is bad for their digestive system. Pastured eggs are also high in vitamin D since they get sunlight, high in Omega-3’s, and low in Omega-6’s.

Crack open a conventionally raised egg, and you will see a light yellow yolk. Crack open a pastured egg, and the yolk will be bright orange. The proof is honestly in the yolk. Many grocery stores are now providing pastured eggs but a more affordable option would be to visit your local farmers market or heck, get your own chickens.
